What actually grows here? That question started Flora of Koh Chang.
A century ago the Danish botanist Johannes Schmidt walked this island and made one of the first records of Thai plant life. We’ve followed him inland, past the beach and into the rainforest, to document fifty native species that define Koh Chang today. Part curiosity, part thank-you to the island we call home.
It started in 2023, over a conversation about how little anyone had written about what grows on Koh Chang. That led us to Preecha Kreecha, a long-time friend of our founder, and through him to Manop Phuphat, a botanist at the Forest Herbarium, DNP. We all agreed on one thing: this rainforest is remarkable, and almost nobody knows it.
So we made something about it — not an academic paper, but a book you can actually sit with. One that makes the island’s plant life easy to see, and hard to forget. A continuation of what Schmidt started, and a small push to get Thai flora the attention it deserves.
At The Chill, we take our cues from nature.
A two-year ecological study is underway with a team of biologists, working alongside conservation foundations to catalogue the island’s flora and fauna and restore biodiversity through native planting.
Every room comes with Flora of Koh Chang, our book on fifty of the island’s most common native plants and the early expeditions that first recorded them. Take it with you on a hike.
Science, culture, community — the island seen with new eyes.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
